President's Message - Avalon Mallee Shield - Short Course

Date: 11th May 2015 | Category: GORBA NEWS
Hi Everyone,

What a great days racing last Saturday 9th May, 2015 at the GORBA Avalon Mallee Shield - Short Course Event.

I just wanted to congratulate all of the competitors for assisting to make the event run very smoothly, with the wind in our favour and rain holding off until Sunday I think the event was a great success.

To the Outright winner great effort. I think this is Phil Killworth's first finish having struggled with mechanical issues in the past.

To all place getters well done. Also well done to Adam Button for navigating in his first event with Dad Craig, and to get a trophy as well.

Also to the two old blokes hanging upside down asking each other if they were all right, which of course they were. When they returned to the pits the driver was asked if they were OK and the comment was “how embarrassing”.

We had members travel from as far away as Bowral NSW, who had a great day. This really is a family sport as I think it always shows at GORBA events. A thanks to all those who pitch in to help others who have had a bit of misfortune on the track to try and get them going.

I need to thank all of the volunteers, without these people these events just would not happen. To Jim Forsman in the Timing Van and for also organising all of the trophies, Tony and Branden who helped out with timing. Tim and Megan who do so much behind the scenes. Travis for being Clerk of the Course and doing a fantastic job. Hubba for standing out in the dust all day assisting Tim and Travis. Jim and Glenyce for keeping the pits flowing and getting everyone organised.

The Recovery Crews who did a great job all day even though they were without their team leader Neil Clarke who couldn’t be there being laid up with a crook back.

To Ian from Tracklife who is always on the spot when needed.

Brooke and her team doing all of the paper work and sign ins.

To Kelly and all the canteen helpers thank you. Aaron and Jim and co for the scrutineering which was a huge task considering we had 26 cars to check.

To all of the people who helped me as this was my first event as President.

For anyone that I have forgotten, thanks for your help, also thanks to those people that offer to help, who are told we are OK at this stage thanks, but please keep offering.

Also, thanks to those who repaired the fence at the end of the day good job.

Once again thank you everybody that helped out in some way and we'll see you all at the next event.

Regards,

Colin McLaren
Club President
