A family affair - Portarlington Earthmoving - Moyston Short Course - 6th September 2025 Results
Well just like most GORBA events a family affair made its way to Moyston for the Portarlington Earthmoving Moyston Short Course.
Father and son Glenn and Blake Pike (#675) claimed outright honours after a day of hard-fought heats. Chasing them home was another father-son duo, Andrew and Jack Cameron (#570), with second-time driver Steph Terry rounding out the podium in #609 alongside her dad Ian navigating.
Prologue was the start of the close racing with only 0.3 seconds splitting Glenn Pike and Rooster.
But unfortunately for Rooster his day nearly came to a close when he was pulled up in Lap 1 with clutch issues, but he managed to get back out there and the fight was still on for heat 2 giving Pikey a run for bragging rights.
Continuing the family affair saw Lynda Miller and son Ricky come away with Class 2 outright, followed by Husband and wife duo Craig and Corry Howlett in second place.
Another Father & Son duo Steve and Cameron Crowe #158, were of to a rough start after losing power on the start line, but luck was on their side when the heat was restarted after only two laps, giving them an opportunity to get back out there and off they went. But falling one lap short put them out of podium contention, yet they finished the day a success!
Class 6 was full of family dynamics, outright was claimed by Glenn and son Blake Pike, followed in 2nd by Steph and father Ian Terry, rounded out with Aidan and mother Stacey Campagnolo in third.
#357 Dean Williams and Jess Ritchie of class 3 took home 1st in class by default, after completing 5 smooth laps of Heat 1, the stub axle decided it no longer wanted to be part of the fun and broke, leaving them to watch the race from the sidelines.
Class 7 saw mates Peter Grills and Brett Jorgensen go out & race and have fun whilst doing so, along with their wives Del and Christy joining in on the fun in the Class 4.
Christy’s run ended with a small fire after a power steering failure, but the boys carried on—finishing bonnet-less leaving it safely at Recovery Point 3 and continuing on to the checkered flag.
Class 8 outright was chased down by Michael Hackney and Shane Ryan who had a near smooth run but their day came to a halt when a tree decided to appear in their path, both ok but car needed a little TLC after the breaking of a couple suspension arms.
#1055 driven by Josh Marslen completed heat 1 before some complications put him out of the race.
Ultimate class also had only one competitor, and following the trend of the day, #11 was a father and son duo - Kevin & Callum Marsden. Unfortunately nearing the end of Heat 1 Kev & Callum were out of the race with Steering issues.
Overall a great day out and thankyou to all the officials - not to mention all the family dynamics behind the scenes as well, we have Brooke our Event Secretary alongside her Father Dicko as Chief Scrutineer and Mother Merryn who kindly made lunch for all the recovery crews, as well to the Conrad family - Trav as Assistant Clerk of Course, and his children Alistair and Tamsyn and father Gary for their general official duties and time keeping!
Thankyou to everyone who make these events happen, the recovery crews, the members, and everyone involved!
