Well another great season of Off-road racing has come to a close for most of the Members of GORBA.
What a great event we all had at Avalon last Saturday 7th November, 2015.
Congratulations to all who entered and raced.
Congratulations to David and Ian Middlemiss for their 1st Outright, just a week after Goondiwindi and to Tony Carabott and Chad Xuereb for their 2nd outright and I think Tony’s first podium in the Penhall for Penhall Fabrications
. Third position outright was filled by Lochlan and Jamie Honey, great effort from the father and son team. Also, well done to the father and daughter team of Greg and Saria Ryan 4th outright and 1st in Class. The list goes on.
Well done to the young brigade of new off roaders coming through the ranks. The likes of Sky Marcus, and Mathew and Daniel Nikiforoff, Sarai Ryan and any other young guns I have forgotten. These youngsters are the next wave of off-road racers and we need to pave the way by giving them a strong Club for the future, with more great events like those we’ve had this year and in the past.
GORBA always seem to have great events that seem to be relaxed and run very smoothly. I really believe that this comes down to the type of Members we have. We do see a lot of the same people helping out at events, but we also see new faces willing to get in and get the job done.
I really need to thank all of those that kept things happening on the day. The team in the timing van and all those young fellows checking seatbelts and arm restraints... good job guys. Those that kept the pits organised and got the cars lined up, and those that did the flags. To the recovery crews, great job. Also the scrutineering team and Travis for being Clerk of Course again.
The gang in the Canteen that just keep serving up great food, and to those who organise the signing in process and keep the paperwork right. I haven’t mentioned names as I think it would be rude to forget someone. All of you helpers know who you are.
From all of us racers, without your help we couldn’t get out there and do what we love to do.
I raise my hat to you and thank you.
Another couple of things I need to mention;
- Sincere thanks again to Travis and Samba Metal Works for sponsoring the trophies again.
- Also thanks to Chad Xuereb for buying the Navigator rides in Tony Carabott's # 81 Penhall Pro Buggy.
All profits will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Chad’s Company, Immediate Electrical Solutions can help out with all of your electrical needs, so be sure to get behind these two great company’s and give them a go.
